Aston Le Walls Sewage
Treatment Works
Sector : Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Client : Thames Water
Value : £152,000.00
The project at Aston Le walls was to remove the original media and replace it with a new filter distribution mechanism. The site was to remain operational whilst work was being carried out.
This was acheived as follows:
- Install temporary SAFF filter, complete with pumping station and blower cubicle
- Divert the flows through the SAFF filter until seeded
- Isolate the flows to the filter bed and re-direct the flow from the SAFF filter to the humus tank.
- Remove the existing media from the filter including rotating distributor and dispose off site.
- Install new filter media.
- Install new filter rotation mechanism and the protection flooring.
- Enter into a phased recommissioning by diverting the settled sewage directly in the filter utilising temporary pumping station to divert the flows back through the SAFF unit prior to the humus tank.
- Carried out daily tests to analyse the performance of the filter.
- The test results were audited and approved by the client, the temporary SAFF filter and pumping regime were removed and the site put in full working order
