Confined Space Search & Rescue

Damar’s Search & Rescue Manager has vast experience in rescue having spent 15 years as a retained fireman for Wiltshire Fire Brigade.

We are one of the very few companies in the UK that offer this type of specialist service. Our employees are trained in search & rescue, confined spaces, rescue techniques, wearing of breathing apparatus, first aid, oxygen administration and resuscitation.

We have held a term contract for this service with Wessex Water and the Environment Agency for the past five years. We currently operate 10 search & rescue teams, who are all qualified in confined space working and first aid. We not only provide an emergency service to companies such as Wessex Water, we also undertake deep sewer survey work on their behalf.

While a confined space entry is in progress, rescuers are required to be available to respond in a timely manner. Fire departments cannot fulfil that function, they are not a “stand by” organisation. In addition, they might not have the specialised rescue equipment needed for extrication.

Our teams are not only trained in the rescue aspect but also as qualified engineers. This enables them to not only enter a confined space but to carry out engineering works.
